Leaving Stuff Behind In Ballard

Hey folks, after eight years we are leaving Ballard. I want to give away some really huge stacks of really great magazines like Punk Planet, Signal To Noise, No Depression, Film Comment, Utne, The New Yorker, and may others. Also will be selling a few bookcases if anyone is interested. Could be we will get it together for a yard sale this weekend, but kind of doubtful as we have a few other items I'd like to pass on. Please let me know if you are interested. Heading to West Seattle. Ballard has been very good to us, but time for a change.

A Nice Place to Eat in Ballard

I'm wondering if anyone wants to contribute a restaurant, or such, that offers great food at reasonable prices, and has an informal atmosphere about it. You know, a place you'd go to on a weekend with some friends to catch up on news. I'm partial to Mexican, but am interested in anything that's done well in terms of food and informal atmosphere.

What burned in Ballard last night?

This morning, starting at around midnight, I heard siren after siren headed toward old Ballard. I finally got out of bed and checked the Seattle Fire Department's real time 911 response webpage:
http://www2.cityofseattle.net/fire/realTime911/getRecsForDatePub.asp?action=Today&incDate=&rad1=des

It said that there were a whole lot of units being dispatched to 5448 Shilshole Ave Nw. That's down near Azteca.

Anybody know what burned?

My partner and I love to walk in Ballard. We like to walk for an hour or so after dinner, maybe stop and get a coffee on the way home. Is anyone interested in joining us? We are new to Seattle and are looking to make some friends.

Viking Days take over Ballard next weekend (July 9th and 10th). Anyone been before, or know what it's all about? (Aside from vikings. ;o)) The only info I've been able to gather so far is that there will be pancakes. Lots and lots of pankcakes.
